This edition of the Dickens Festival is on December 16 and 17, 2023. The monumental Bergkwartier district is the setting for this magnificent Festijn. Charles Dickens' 19th century English town revives in full glory in the center of Deventer.

Charles Dickens' 19th century English town revives in full glory in the center of Deventer. Every year in the historic Bergkwartier district, over 950 characters from the famous books of this English writer come to life: from Scrooge to Oliver Twist, from Mr. Pickwick to Christmas Carol Singers, from orphans to office clerks and dignitaries. Admission is free. However, please allow for a wait at the entrance.

The Dickens Festival is attended by over 125,000 visitors annually. Due to the large number of visitors, please allow for a wait at the entrance. Access to the Dickens Festival is only possible via Keizerstraat (near the Deventer Schouwburg). Visitors will be directed to the entrance of the festival (near the Walstraat) via gates in the Keizerstraat and the Brinkpoortstraat, where they will be let in in groups.
