Good Friday market in Deventer

when
29 March
10:00 - 17:00

During the Good Friday Market, market vendors displayed their wares in the more than 350 stalls present from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Keizerstraat, on Brink and in Zandpoort, from the NS station to the IJssel River.

Many people gather at trading places; this used to be the case at the annual fairs. Many fairs were held near churches or, as in Deventer, around the Waag. Deventer, with its rich Hanseatic past, had as many as six annual fairs, many of which lasted several days. Merchants from all over Europe came to Deventer and this led to a considerable increase in the prosperity of the city. The Goede Vrijdagmarkt is the only remaining annual market and has always been a true event that does not go unnoticed by visitors, consumers and residents. The annual market attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Deventer each year and not only from the region, but from all over the country.
